The National Broadband Network (NBN) is an Australia wide project to upgrade the existing fixed line phone and internet network infrastructure. This new network is run by the government-owned NBN Co and will enable access to fast, reliable and affordable phone and internet services, from a range of providers.
You can prepare to switch by following these steps:
- First check here to see when the NBN will be available in your area.
- Contact a NBN Service Provider to review packages available – Prior to selecting the provider, be sure to mention if you have a monitored home security system, fire panel or personal medical alarm.
- If you have an alarm panel you should request that the Service Provider provides a back-up battery for your NBN Network Termination Device (NTD). This ensures the alarm panel will still be able to communicate in the event of a power failure.
- When you are connected to the NBN, contact your monitoring company to ensure your system is communicating with the monitoring center.
