Planning your switch to the NBN.

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is an Australia wide project to upgrade the existing fixed line phone and internet network infrastructure. This new network is run by the government-owned NBN Co and will enable access to fast, reliable and affordable phone and internet services, from a range of providers.

You can prepare to switch by following these steps:

  1. First check here to see when the NBN will be available in your area.
  2. Contact a NBN Service Provider to review packages available – Prior to selecting the provider, be sure to mention if you have a monitored home security system, fire panel or personal medical alarm.
  3. If you have an alarm panel you should request that the Service Provider provides a back-up battery for your NBN Network Termination Device (NTD). This ensures the alarm panel will still be able to communicate in the event of a power failure.
  4. When you are connected to the NBN, contact your monitoring company to ensure your system is communicating with the monitoring center.
